Namche Bazaar at dawn, with the Kwangde peaks lit up by the first rays of light. It is located in the Solukhumbu District in the Sagarmatha Zone of northeastern Nepal. The village is 3,440 metres (11,286 ft) at its low point. Traditionally, it has been a trading post for the Khumbu region, exchanging yak cheese and butter with agricultural goods grown at lower altitudes. Now, it has become a major climbing and trekking hub. Access is still on foot from Lukla, as there are no vehicle-navigable roads and no passenger airport.
Taken on Fuji Velvia slide film in 2004. Two decades later, this digitally remastered version is the result of scanning the original slide and applying modern AI sharpening tools.
